What is airway-centric orthodontics?
Airway-centric (also known as airway-centered) orthodontics is a type of orthodontics that focuses not only on improving the appearance of the teeth and oral health, but also the airway. The goal is to improve any existing airway issues and to provide treatment that does not cause any new airway issues to form.
Can braces help with the airway?
Yes, braces and other orthodontic treatments can improve the airway by expanding and positioning the jaw to enable proper breathing.
How much does the whole process of braces cost?
The cost of braces depends on the type you choose, the length of your treatment, and any supplemental treatments or orthodontic appliances needed. After your consultation, we will be able to provide you with an estimate of the costs involved for your specific needs.
Do teeth aligners really work?
Yes, our Berkshire Aligners are just as effective as braces for most patients. While there is a small minority of patients who have complex orthodontic needs that must be corrected with braces, aligners are an option for everyone else. Like braces, they reposition teeth by applying gentle pressure.
When is early orthodontic treatment necessary?
Early orthodontic treatment is typically recommended when a child has airway issues or when the jaw must be expanded to ensure that there is room for the adult teeth to erupt. Not all children need early orthodontic treatment, but when it’s recommended, it will usually reduce the amount of time needed for orthodontic treatment in adolescence.
